The God Species

Yesterday I had a lot of energy and was able to add several thousand words to my manuscript on "Carbon lock-in, rebound effects and China at the limits of statism". Today less so. Spring, or even summer by Swedish standards, has come to Korea and it makes it less tempting to stay inside. Went down to Baskin-Robbins for an ice cream earlier and then decided to stay outside reading Mark Lynas’s “The God Species: How the Planet can Survive in the Age of Humans” which came in the mail the other day. Do not really know what to make of it, surprisingly pragmatic and soulless I would say, not the kind of radical technological optimism that I somehow expected but rather very basic stuff. Definitely no space ships :-)

Late on Wednesday night, I will board Turkish Airlines flight TK91 to Istanbul and from there I will go back to Sweden for a few days to see my girlfriend and prepare for all the great things that are to come this spring.
