Vesuvius

Today, we took the train back to Pompeii and then the bus up to the top of Mount Vesuvius. Unfortunately, we had missed the tiny detail that in order to actually access the crater you had to book a ticket in advance and that all tickets for the day were sold out by the time we got there. 

Unsurprisingly, this caused a bit of disappointment but we made up for it with a nice walk down the mountain, with William sharing different legends from his Lego world and the sun shining over the bay below. Hearing reports from the autumn darkness in Umeå, I cannot say that I am itching to go back but tomorrow we are nevertheless starting our journey home, although with one short stop en route in Vienna.
