Descending through the Caucasian night, our Airbaltic 737 made a safe landing at 03:50 a.m. early yesterday morning. Next to the glitzy new terminal, the night beheld a stranded space station with a sponge-like morphology, a porous Russian interpretation of Deep Space 9.

Leaving this breathtaking airport, the taxi ride into the city took about twenty minutes, bledning Reno-styled casinos with a distinctive Middle-Eastern atmosphere.
