1809

Just like when he visited in December 2017, Gabriel got to experience some pretty extreme winter conditions on this, his third visit to Umeå, only mitigated by a bottle of “Land of Saints” pinot noir from the Central Coast and some polka beats. After a good night’s sleep, I took Gabriel for a walk in the snow to look at the stone monument in Sävar that was put up in 1909 in commemoration of the battle of 1809 which was the last major battle fought on Swedish territory.
